What if your bag with all your stuff gets stolen? Or worse, if a burglar breaks into your house?

Now you, and any person sharing the same household, can have peace of mind knowing that damaged goods will be replaced or financial compensation will be paid if any of these cases (and many more) happen.

The basics

Your home insurance will have these covers as standard to protect your belongings, both at home and on the road, if they are damaged by water, fire, smoke or natural hazards.

This basic cover will help you if water damages your household contents.

 What is covered?

Damage to the belongings of anyone sharing a household, should one of these events happen:

  • If water leaks from pipes, heating systems, tank or heat recovery systems, connected appliances, aquariums, waterbeds, mobile air conditioners, humidifiers or decorative fountains.
  • If water enters from the outside if windows and doors are closed. This applies to rain, snow, melt water and water from the sewerage system, or groundwater when it forces its way into the cellar.

Water damage to all movable property in and around your home, including items stored in a cellar, attic space, balcony, garden, garage, bicycle shelter and the garden house (unless it is connected to the ground by a foundation).

Mould damage when it is caused by one of the events mentioned above.

Frost-induced pipe damages.

What will not be covered?

Damage caused by workon pipes and liquid containers, such as filling, emptying or inspection tasks.

Water damage caused by gradual leaking from aquariums, waterbeds, air conditioners, humidifiers or decorative fountains.

Damage caused by snow, rain or melt water entering through open apertures (windows, doors, skylights…).

How will we help you?

If any of the above cases of simple theft away from home occur, this is what we will do:

  • Replace stolen items for their replacement value, or pay for their repair, up to the 100% of the amount insured.
  • Cover these costs up to CHF 1’000.00:

Rupturing of the pipeline in the building itself or damage to the building by the water (those events can be covered by building insurance).

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned water-related accidents occur, this is what we will do:

  • Pay to repair or pay the replacement value for damaged items belonging to all people sharing a common household, up to 100% of the sum insured.
  • Pay for the removal of the damaged items, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Reimburse the costs of hotel accommodation for a temporary period, up to 20% of the sum insured.

This basic cover will help you if fire damages your home or your belongings.

 What is covered?

The belongings of anyone sharing a common household that are damaged by fire, caused by cable fire, accidental smoke exposure, lightning, explosion, or meteor strike.

Belongings scorched, harmed by smoke odor, or damaged during extinguishing.

All movable property in and around the home, including items stored in a cellar, attic space, balcony, garage, bicycle storage, garden and garden shed.

What will not be covered?  

Damage to household contents by smoking, smoke from a fireplace or other gradual smoke.

Damage to equipment due to current, overvoltage or overload.

Damage to the building itself (this event must be covered by building insurance).

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned fire-related accidents occur, this is what we will do:

  • Pay to repair or pay the replacement value for all damaged items specified when taking out the insurance, up to 100% of the sum insured.
  • Pay for the disposal of damaged items, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Reimburse hotel stay expenses for a temporary period, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Reimburse monetary values as cash, up to CHF 5’000.00.
  • Reimburse the value of borrowed items or items belonging to guests, up to CHF 10’000.00.
  • Replace emergency glazing and emergency doors, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Pay the costs of replacing damaged documents, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Pay the costs of blocking and unblocking credit cards, up to 20% of the sum insured.


This basic cover will help you in the event of a natural event damaging things in your home.

What is covered?

Damage, destruction or loss of household possessions due to high tide, flood, or if a storm knocks down trees or uncovers buildings, hail, avalanche, snow pressure, rock fall, rock impact and landslides.

All property in and around the home, including cellar, attic space, balcony, garage, bicycle storage, garden and garden shed.

What will not be covered?

Damage caused by poor subsoil, inadequate maintenance or construction defects.

Damage caused by snow sliding off the roof.

Damage to the building itself (this event must be covered by building insurance).

How we will help you?

If any of the above-mentioned natural event-related accidents occur, this is what we will do:

  • Pay to repair or pay the replacement value for all damaged items belonging to anyone sharing a common household, up to 100% of the sum insured.
  • Pay for the removal of the damaged items, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Reimburse the costs of hotel accommodation for a temporary period, up to 20% of the sum insured.

What you choose

With these add-ons you can make your home content insurance more complete, protecting you against burglary, robbery, theft, simple theft away from home worldwide and also covering furniture and building glass breakage.

This add-on will help you in the events of burglary and robbery both at home and away from home, and simple theft at home.

What is covered?

Theft from your home or safe, or attempted theft.

Theft from a vehicle if it is locked and parked at home.

Theft from a basement, attic, balcony, garden, garage and bicycle storage space.

Robberies with threat or violence against all persons sharing a common household, inside or outside the home.

Burglary or robbery of monetary assets, such as cash.

What will not be covered?

Lost or misplaced items.

Theft by a roommate or family member.

Simple theft of monetary assets, such as cash.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned robberies, burglaries or thefts occur, this is what we will do:

  • Replace stolen items for their replacement value, or pay for their repair, up to 100% of the amount insured.
  • Remove damaged items and, if necessary, pay for temporary relocation costs.
  • Pay the cost of locks, emergency doors and glazing and the repair of damage to the building.
  • Pay the cost of recovering documents and blocking and unblocking credit cards, up to 20% of the insured amount.
  • Reimburse cash money up to CHF 5,000.00.
  • Reimburse cost of objects borrowed or belonging to guests, up to a value of CHF 10,000.00.

This add-on will help anyone sharing a common household in the event of a theft away from home, even without force.

What is covered?

Theft while on the move, like trick theft and pick-pocketing.

Stolen belongings, like bag, wallet or mobile phone.

Stolen belongings from a locked vehicle.

Belongings recovered but damagedafter the theft.

What will not be covered?

Lost or misplaced items.

Cash, credit cards and other monetary assets.

How will we help you?

If any of the above cases of simple theft away from home occur, this is what we will do:

  • Replace stolen items for their replacement value, or pay for their repair, up to the 100% of the amount insured.

Procurement of new identity cards.

Blocking and renewing credit cards.

This add-on will help you if a glass component of your household furniture breaks.

 What is covered?

Breakage or damage to glass furniture components due to sudden and unexpected events, malicious damage, civil disturbances and supersonic aircraft shock waves.

Breakage of glass components of furniture, such as display cases or table tops made of glass, stone, artificial stone or substitute materials for glass, such as Plexiglas or other plastics.

Damage to the home caused by glass splinters at the time of breakage.

What will not be covered?

Hand mirrors, optical glass (glasses or binoculars), glassware, glass figurines, hollow glass (except for aquariums, terrariums and glass components), light fittings of any kind (light bulbs, strip lights/neon tubes).

Components of electronic communication and entertainment equipment (mobile phones, tablets and screens).

Items that are rented or otherwise entrusted to the policyholder.

Items belonging to guests.

Secondary damage and damage due to wear and tear.

Damage caused by furniture glazing work carried out by third parties (tradespeople).

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned breakage damage to furniture occur, this is what we will do:

  • Pay to repair or pay the replacement value for all damaged items belonging to anyone sharing a common household, up to 100% of the sum insured.

This add-on will help you as a homeowner in case ofbreakage or damage to glass belonging to the building.

What is covered?

Glass breakage in rooms used exclusively by all people sharing a common household, that occur as a result of a sudden and unexpected event, malicious damage and civil unrest and shock waves from a supersonic aircraft.

Breakages and cracks affecting building glazing, glass-ceramic hobs, natural and artificial stone finishes in the kitchen or bathroom.

Bathroom fittings and sanitary fittings with enamel coatings, such washbasins, toilet basins and cisterns, baths, showers and bathroom fixtures.

Fireplace surround or glass substitute materials.

Damages caused by glass splinters at the time of breakage.

What will not be covered?

Light fittings of any kind: bulbs, strip lights / neon tubes, etc.

Solar panels, solar cells and photovoltaic systems.

Secondary damage and damage due to wear and tear.

Damage caused by work on building glazing carried out by third parties (tradespeople).

Damages that happen outside the address stated in the policy.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned damages to glass occur, this is what we will do:

  • Pay to repair or pay the replacement value for all damaged items belonging to anyone sharing a common household, up to 100% of the sum insured.
  • Pay for the disposal of damaged items, up to 20% of the sum insured.
  • Pay for emergency glazing, door solutions and emergency keys, up to 20% of the sum insured.

The basics

Your personal liability insurance will have these covers as standard to protect you, and any person sharing the same household, as private persons, pet owners, renters, property owners, part-time workers and vehicle drivers.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with personal liability insurance as private individuals in their everyday lives.

What is covered?

Damage caused by you in daily private life.

Accidents that occur when you are the head of the family (e.g. an accident occurs to another child when looking after your children).

Damage caused during acts of kindness (e.g. helping a friend to move).

Damage caused by a private employee (e.g. a neighbor's possession is damaged while your plumber carries out work).

Damage to third party movable property which has been lawfully left to you for use, safekeeping or other purposes, or which you have rented (e.g. a set of rented skis).

Damage causedduring recreational sports (e.g. a window is broken while playing football).

Damage resulting from voluntary or unpaid work during a social commitment (e.g. church and youth work, associations, political parties and interest groups).

Damage caused by you as weapon owner, (e.g. a sporting gun is accidentally fired and the ricochet goes through the window and crashes into a vehicle parked in front of the house).

Damage in connection with an environmental impairment as a consequence of a sudden and unforeseen event that requires immediate action such as reporting to the competent authority, alerting the population or initiating damage prevention or mitigation measures.

What will not be covered?

Damage to an employer’s property, to property subject to a hire-purchase or leasing agreement or which is acquired under the reservation of title, land, water or aircraft, unless otherwise specified.

Damage to property on which you carry out an activity for payment.

Damage caused by professional sportsmen and women in the course of their activities, including aviation and motor sports.

Damage caused during participation in equestrian events (show jumping, horse and trotting races).

Damage during military, civil defense and fire brigade functions.

Damage caused as a member of a foreign army or foreign civil defense force.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events result in a claim against any private individual sharing a common household, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.
  • At your request, even without statutory liability:

Cover damage by insured persons without power of judgement, up to CHF 200,000.

Cover property damage during sports and games.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance as pet owners.

What is covered?

Statutory liability for non-profit pet ownership (legal and official regulations for this must be fulfilled).

Damage caused by your animals, even without legal liability (at your request and within the framework of the General Conditions of Insurance).

What will not be covered?

Damage from unusual domestic, wild and poisonous animals.

Damage caused during participation in equestrian events as show jumping, horse and trotting races.

How will we help you?

If any of the above pet-related events result in a claim against anyone sharing a common household, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.
  • At your request, even without statutory liability: compensate for damage caused by insured animals, up to CHF 2’000.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance as renters, even when the property is used jointly with other renters.

What is covered?

Damage to owner-occupied property and to building components and installations used jointly with other renters.

Damage to property rented (e.g. a holiday home, holiday apartments, hotel rooms, permanently installed caravans, hobby and craft rooms, garages…).

Damage to undeveloped property (e.g. family gardens).

What will not be covered?

Tenant liability claims related to undeveloped land not located in Switzerland.

Tenant liability claims related to buildings or land used for commercial purposes.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events cause a claim against any person sharing a common household as renters, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.
  • At your request, even without statutory liability:

Cover damage by insured persons without power of judgement, up to CHF 200,000.

Cover property damage during sports and games.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance as owners of a living space or a piece of land.

What is covered?

Statutory liability as owners of:

  • Owner-occupied property with a maximum of 3 apartments used exclusively for residential purposes.
  • Privately used facilities, equipment and land serving the building.
  • Holiday home, an unregistered mobile home or caravan with a fixed location.
  • Condominium holiday apartment for own use, including communal areas of the building (e.g. staircase) in accordance with ownership quota. If the condominium has a building liability insurance, we will cover that part of the damage that exceeds the sum insured.
  • Undeveloped land (e.g. family garden).

Statutory liability as a private property developer in connection with conversions to buildings, if don’t exceed the total construction of CHF 100’000.

What will not be covered?

Expenses for the removal and disposal of contaminated sites found on the property, irrespective of their origin, which are charged by order of the authorities.

Damage in connection with buildings and land located outside of Switzerland.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events result in a claim against any person sharing a common household as property owners, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance when they are in a secondary employment.

What is covered?

Liability claims against anyone sharing a common household as part-time workers.

Losses from self-employed secondary employment activities and from the rented business premises used for this purpose.

What will not be covered?

Damage caused to items that were taken over, rented, leased or rented for use, processing, safekeeping or transport, or for other reasons.

Damage to property as a result of working on (or with) them (e.g. when repairing or loading a vehicle).

Damage caused during events connected to all risky sports, medical and paramedical activities, cosmetic treatments and body modification of all kinds (piercings, transdermal implants and tattoos).

Damage caused during agricultural operations.

Damage caused in the letting off of fireworks (category 3 and above).

Damage from secondary part-time employment requiring a permit, which is carried out without the corresponding permit.

Damage resulting from the transfer of patents, licenses, research results and formulas of third parties.

Damage and defects that arise in the goods manufactured or delivered by you.

Damage to work performed by you due to a cause rooted in the manufacture, delivery or execution of the work.

Damage resulting from the repair of damage on goods manufactured or delivered by you, as well as any resulting financial losses.

Damage that you are responsible for in a part-time employment role in the USA or Canada.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events cause a claim against anyone sharing a common household when working part-time, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.

This basic cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance when using vehicles with no statutory liability prescribed by law.

What is covered?

Statutory liability as owners and users of bicycles, motorcycles (and other vehicles equivalent to them according to the law) and for damage to the vehicles themselves provided they do not belong to you.

Statutory liability as owners and users of vehicle-like equipment (e.g. skateboards or bicycles) and for damage to the vehicles themselves provided they do not belong to you.

Statutory liability as owners and users of boats, ships and other watercraft, as well as for aircraft which no statutory liability insurance is required.

Damage to third parties, their property or animals and the resulting financial losses from private liability claims against all persons sharing a common household when using vehicles as bicycles, skateboards or wheelchairs, up to the sum insured per claim.

What will not be covered?

Statutory liability in the absence of insurance when a vehicle requires it by law (e.g. motorcycles).

Damages caused to watercraft or aircraft vehicles when using themselves.

Damages to a watercraft used in a competition (e.g. a regatta)

If any of the above-mentioned events cause a claim against any person sharing a common household when using a special vehicle, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.

What you choose

With these add-ons you can make your home insurance more complete, covering you when you drive other people’s vehicles or if you cause an accident due to gross negligence.

This add-on cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance when borrowing vehicles.

What is covered?

Legal liability as an occasional, infrequent driver and user of third party motor vehicles up to 3.5t and their trailers, registered in Switzerland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and in countries of the European Union and EFTA states.

Damage due to collision caused to the vehicle in use, to the extent that it is not covered by the comprehensive insurance taken out for the vehicle.

Claims not covered by the vehicle's liability insurance.

What will not be covered?

Motor vehicles that are not insured by the owner with the necessary motor vehicle liability insurance, or if this was not in force at the time of the accident.

Motor vehicles made available by a garage, dealer or repair shop, rented against payment or taken over as part of a car-sharing arrangement (e.g. mobility vehicles).

Damage on journeys made for remuneration or work-related reasons.

Recourse and compensation of insurance policies taken out for the vehicle concerned and gross negligence deductions.

Costs of vehicle replacement.

Costs resulting from the non-operational status of the damaged vehicle.

Operational damage to the vehicle in use.

Objects transported in the vehicle in use.

Commercial and technical depreciation.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events cause a claim against any person sharing a common household when driving a third party motor vehicle, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
  • Depending on the case, reimburse the costs incurred for loss prevention (environmental damage, damage mitigation costs, claims interest, legal, court, expertise and similar cost) up to the sum insured per claim.
  • In claims settled under the collision insurance: assume the remaining deductible as well as the loss of bonus, up to the premium level before the insured event.
  • In claims settled under the liability insurance policy:

Assume the additional premium that results from the actual downgrading in the premium scale system for the liability insurance concluded for the vehicle used, up to the sum insured per claim.

Assume the contractual deductible which the motor vehicle liability insurer charges to its policyholder except if we reimburse the motor vehicle liability insurer for the claims expenses, up to the sum insured per claim.

This add-on cover provides anyone sharing a household with private liability insurance when a grossly negligent act happens.

What is covered?

Waiver of the right of reduction due to gross negligence if an event is caused by a grossly negligent act.

What will not be covered?

Gross negligence events:

  • Caused under the influence of alcohol, narcotics or medication.
  • Caused by being unable to drive or by way of a speeding offence.

Recourse and compensation of claims by third parties for benefits which they have paid to injured parties.

How will we help you?

If any of the above-mentioned events related to gross negligence cause a claim against any person sharing a common household, this is what we will do:

  • Reimburse the expenses and financial losses from claims if you cause damage to third parties, their property or animals, up to the sum insured per claim.
